UK Visa Documents Checklist for UAE Residents

UK visitor visa decisions are made by caseworkers who only see your form and documents – there is no interview in most cases. That makes your document file the most important part of the application. Here is what to prepare.

Core documents for every applicant

Passport valid for your whole stay, plus old passports showing travel history
UAE residence visa and Emirates ID (valid well beyond your return date)
Online application confirmation and appointment letter
Travel plan: flight reservation and hotel booking, or your host's address

Financial documents

UK caseworkers want to see that the trip is affordable and that the money is genuinely yours.

Personal bank statements for the last 6 months
Salary slips or a salary certificate that match the credits in your statement
Explanation for any large recent deposits (for example a bonus letter or property sale)
If someone else pays: their letter, bank statements and proof of relationship

Red flag: a large deposit a few days before applying, with no explanation. Caseworkers often treat this as "funds parking" and refuse the application.

Employment or business documents

Invitation letter from your host with their address and your relationship
Copy of the host's passport or UK residence status (BRP / eVisa share code)
Proof of relationship where relevant (birth or marriage certificate)

Children under 18

Birth certificate
Consent letter from both parents (or the parent not travelling)
Copies of both parents' passports and UAE residence
School letter confirming the holiday period

Translations and format

Any document not in English or Welsh needs a certified translation. Upload clear scans – blurry or cropped pages slow down your case.

Frequently asked questions

How much bank balance do I need for a UK visit visa?

There is no fixed amount. The caseworker checks that you can comfortably afford the trip based on your income, expenses and trip cost. Regular income matters more than a large balance.

Do I need to submit original documents?

Usually you upload scanned copies or bring them to the visa centre. Keep the originals, as they may be requested.

Is an invitation letter mandatory?

Only if you are visiting family or friends or staying with them. For tourism with hotel bookings, it is not needed.
